All files need to be setup CMYK.

NOTE If artwork is supplied in an unsupported package then transference will be charged at the current rate.

Supported Software Packages - Mac (preferably) and PC

• Quark Xpress
• Adobe InDesign
• Adobe Photoshop
• Adobe Illustrator

Photographic Elements

• All photographic files (eg. Adobe Photoshop) must be set up as uncompressed CMYK & saved as TIFF or EPS.
• Images, when imported into page layout programs, should be cropped to correct size where possible.
• When creating Photographic elements then set up the resolution at 300dpi at 25% or 75dpi at 100% - a good rule of thumb is 30mb per square metre. For superwide printing, please contact Access Displays before beginning the design.
• All layered files should be flattened.
• Any photo clean up should be done viewing the ‘actual pixels’ in the ‘view’ menu to ensure the best output.

Colour

• For best colour representation always try to select your colours as Pantone (PMS) Coated.
• Please advise Access Displays if you wish to specifically match a particular Pantone colour. Ideally this should be done before starting the design.
• Avoid using percentages/tints of colour, try to choose a specific Pantone Coated colour instead.

Format

• Please use Quark Xpress or Adobe InDesign as you build your page layout
• Always link your elements between your software packages - do not embed. If there are any problems then we have access to any supporting files.

Size

• Set up your files at full size where possible or in correct proportion, half size or quarter size etc. (A sizes DO NOT scale well in proportion e.g. A4 to A1).
• Set up all files with 3mm bleed on all edges. All prints are digitally cut so bleed ensures accuracy.

Fonts

• Supply all fonts (screen and printer) when using layout programs such as Quark Xpress and InDesign.
• Always try to convert your fonts to curves where possible eg in Adobe Illustrator.
• Never use “stylizing” tools in Quark Xpress, these are not supported on the printer RIP’s and will default to the plain version of the font.

Please Do Not...

• Do not use Quark gradients - they will band, use Photoshop and import.
• Try not to use Illustrator gradients - they may band, use Photoshop and import.
• Try not to use the Transparency and Shadowing features in Illustrator, use Photoshop if possible.
• Do not forget to flatten your layered Illustrator files.
• Do not interpolate small files up to large as the quality will not scale as there is insufficient resolution.
• Try not to send logos as Photoshop files, ideally logos should be vector files with fonts changed to outlines.

Artwork Supply

• “Collect for Output” when using Quark (collect fonts) and “Preflight” in InDesign (fonts will be collected).
• Please supply all elements in their native format.
• If colour matching is required in Photoshop then please supply the layered files so that we have access to change elements if required.
• Please supply a colour proof - this will be for content only, not colour matching
